When I met Mica and Billie, it was love at first sight. These two adopted street dogs belong to our close friends and neighbors in Mexico. They came to be my guides and companions during daily walks along the empty beaches and rugged cliffs. Together we explored and pondered a landscape that was in a constant state of change from the mighty waves rolling in from the Pacific Ocean.

These fluctuations in a landscape have always fascinated me; how nature has the ability to sustain a deep stillness amidst the continuous change.

Mica and Billie played and explored while I took pictures, and sometimes we sat peacefully together on a cliff , observing the magnificent desert to the back and the infinite sea ahead: On the path we saw a rattlesnake resting; in the air, the frigate birds soared; in the sea a majestic whale swam by.

All photos were taken in Baja California Sur, Mexico, between 2016 and 2018.
